Worshipholic, New Concept From Chronicle

Chronicle is coming back! This time with our newest concept, WORSHIPHOLIC, in which we try to express our love to God with pure Praise and Worship. The word “Worshipholic” which simply means “Addicted to Worship” is the main strength in this event. Chronicle loves to see all youth Christians become addicted to worshipping God continuously and to giving the best only for Him.

The first Worshipholic was held on 12 July 2008 in Shekinah Duta Merlin. Young Catholics from all over the places around Jakarta, Bogor, Depok and Bekasi flooded all over the building. What a wonderful ambience when we saw all hands raised, mouths praised, and heads bowed down worshipping and praising God. That always gave us a great great delight having such a chance to give honor to God through our music.

The most interesting scene was when one of our wonderful friend, Steven, who was paralyzed by polio since he was a kid, gave his amazing sharing to show us that he did not bitter about the circumstances of his life. Instead, he always believes that God’s love will never end among us. Thanks, Steven… Keep believing!

We would like to say our special thank to Vintage Boutique who supported our costumes, make up and everything for our first Worshipholic. Our big thanks to Brother Werner, Andrian & the gank for the fantastic sound system and lighting; and also for all other crews, ushers, ticketing persons, photographers, and our multimedia specialists. Thanks a lot, guys. You are incredible!!

Last but not least, we would like to invite you, all young Catholics, to praise and to worship God again, in WORSHIPHOLIC 2, on 16 August 2008, at the same place and the same time. We’ll see you there, folks!!

We would love to hear from you. Please leave your comments below.

“Never Enough” Album – Behind the Scene

We witness that God has arranged and planned everything for us. We started with playing music in JOY (Jesus fOr Youth, a youth prayer community in Jakarta) every Saturday afternoon. We always remember that at that time we practiced in a small 2x2 sq meter room, with a poor instruments and simple amplifier. Only terrible noise and hot air could be felt inside that tiny space. However, that unfortunate situation was not slow us down. Instead, we kept our spirit high and we still able to produce various music arrangement applying our creativities.

Slowly but sure, we can then start renting a studio for our practice. The money came from our own pocket, sacrificed our income in order to pursue our commitment keeping Chronicle exists. We also began to join some music courses in order to enhance our skills. “Pay for the price” also applies in this music ministry. Skills and Spirits are two things that can not be separated from a music ministry.

The longer we play music together in a band, the greater our desire to see that our music will bless more and more people, not only in JOY. We often spot the enormity of God’s work because of the music. That makes us even amazed and fired to spread God’s joy and love to others. Music has its own magic. It could express a soul and touch a heart. We are so proud that God has given us, youth Catholics, a chance to introduce God to our friends through music.

God always works in a way that we can’t imagine before. Somehow, we got a chance to start making our first album. It’s a mini album, with Indie style, and most of the songs were arranged by Yohanna (Chronicle’s keyboardist).

We have only 2 months time in order to make the album. That’s because we need to launch the album right on time when there is a Catholic Revival by Bo Sanchez on February 2007, so that we could promote the album effectively when almost all Indonesian youth Catholics gathered in that event. During the album-making process, we faced a really difficult situation, when there was a big flood disaster in Jakarta, all main roads were flooded by dirty water from the river and all public transports were hard to be found. Once again, we witnessed that God has His own plan for us. The flood also made us unable to go to school and to work for a while. That means, we will have enough time to complete our album. Awesome God!

“However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived”. what God has prepared for those who love him" (1 Corinthians 2:9)

Praise God, Chronicle’s first album received lots of support from our family and friends. That’s why, we would like to also invite you to enjoy our first album, with title NEVER ENOUGH. To order the CD, please send us email and we would be more than happy to assist you with the delivery and to make sure that you receive the CD without any hassles.

We are now still in progress creating our 2nd album. Therefore, we really appreciate your prayer and support by leaving any comments below.

Let's Talk About Chronicle

April 2004, some youth Catholics started to gather together in a band to express their passion to praise and worship God through Catholic songs. Having a long journey with personnel selection process, finally there are 5 young people ranging in age from 20-25 who are committed together to spread God’s mission in a musical way.

Chronicle !!
This is the name that we chose as our unity and our encouragement.
“Chronicle” will then become our main mission.
We’d love to see our music becomes a great blessing for every nation and His name will be praised and glorified forever.

Chronicle ...
It came from the word chronos which means “Time”.
We wanna be a history through our songs.
And we believe, our spirit and hard work will help us to reach our dream, to make music as a powerful tool that transcends all cultures and to spread out God’s glory to people.

Here we are…

Vae – Vocalist
Born on 12 April 1983, graduated from ESMOD (Ecole Superieure Des Arts et Techniques de la Mode) Jakarta and now working as a fashion designer. Her service started at the first time in a youth prayer community called JOY (Jesus Of Youth) as a singer. Then she was promoted to be a worship leader and also become the leader of JOY Worship Ministry. ”We would like to be an inspirator for youth Catholics..”, she said.

Julio – Bassist
He was born on 18 July 1983 and he started to play music since he was 5 year old. His firstly became a guitarist in JOY, in the same community as Vae did. He played a big role in developing the music ministry in JOY. The biggest dream of him is to publish a Catholic song album that will bless people and bring them to God. Julio believes that the battle to pursue his dream is really the true challenge he always fight for.

Irvan – Guitarist
Born in 8 September 1986. He has been learning and playing music since he was 8 year old. He also started his first service in JOY. His warm and friendly character make his services grow. Serving is not a matter of entertaining people, it’s how we could serve and help people deep from our heart.

Ferdie – Drummer
He is the youngest personnel in Chronicle. No doubt can be put to his drum skill, since he has been playing a high quality drum since he was 14 year old. His spontaneus character helps him to explore new things easily, and that applies also to his drum skill. Learning is a process, and making mistakes is one way of learning things. That encourages Ferdie to keep fighting and exploring.

Yohanna (Yo’) – Keyboardist
She started to play music when she was 10. And since that time, her skill gradually and consistently increase. She played a significant role as a keyboardist in JOY, the same community as the other Chronicle personnels. One thing that pleases her is to see, to listen and to learn new things from a more experienced keyoboardist. Learning by Listening, maybe this statement describes a lot what she loves to do. With lots of experiences in music, her keyboard skill will always be an invaluable asset for Chronicle. ”Nothing is more magnificent than playing my fingers on my keyboard while worshipping God. All by HIS grace.."
